Where Life Meets Politics!

Archives for the day Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Except for a few postings I have already done that will post over the next two days, my blog may be a little light this week. I will be preoccupied with a family emergency.

The economy is by far the top issue on voters' minds as Election Day at last arrives. An Associated Press exit poll finds six in 10 voters across the country picked the economy as the most important issue facing the nation. None of four other issues on the list - energy, Iraq, terrorism and health care - was picked by more than one in 10.

Daniel Bennett has committed a lot of time and research to writing up this article. He has scoured the internet, blogs, and comments to blog to put together this piece which summarizes in one place all that has went on in the Nick Meo saga. You may have read my writings on here, but are you aware of the other writings from other bloggers and journalists? If not CLICK HERE to see it all in one place.

BTW, I have emailed both Nick Meo and his employer to invite them on as guests of Blog Talk Radio…neither have responded.

Considered to be on the cutting edge and well known in the industry, the Gemtech G5 is widely used by federal agencies, military units and civilian shooters. It is designed to work with any 5.56mm NATO (.223 Remington) firearm that is threaded at the muzzle and has the 1/8-inch or so of clearance that allows for the push-twist movement of the locking mechanism.

This week on BTR, we’ll have a substantive discussion about the use of the stop loss policy to man combat units. Since 1993, more than 12,500 troops have been discharged under the Clinton-era “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Could a halt to the policy really solve the military’s manning issues? We’ll also be talking live with embedded freelance reporter/blogger Scott Kesterson who is currently with combat troops in southeastern Afghanistan.

You can call in live and ask Scott questions or join us in the chat room and type a question that CJ or I can ask him for you.

The show is Thursday evening from 1900-2030 EST. You can access the chatroom and listen online at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/youserved

Also, keep an eye on this blog or www.soldiersperspective.us later in the week for some big announcements about next week’s Veteran’s Day Special Show.

Your ability to in turn express your opinions are just one of the rights I defended as a United States Army soldier. I respect and encourage that right. I ask only this; if you disagree with any of the material presented, either by the author or by posters, take a deep breath and think before you post. Be introspective. Be concise. Form a complete, well thought, and above all polite response before posting. The inability to communicate politely and succinctly on emotionally charged issues will do nothing to promote productive sharing of viewpoints. To do anything less is to denigrate each other, hide away the truth, and perpetuate that which we seek to overcome.
